I'd visit the Car Park at about 4.45 each Friday arvo just before knock off time to find new rolls of copper & assorted stuff in the back of the vans. "Ah that" they'd say", the Stores Clerk must have put it in there for an early start on Monday" Me..... "Tell you what, take it back out out & come into work before you go to "that" (fictitious) job instead."


Now I realise why it was called "Knock Off" time.

Can you imagine a shooter rocking in at 1am with a cigie hanging out of the corner of his mouth, opens the chiller door (ex shipping container) and there'd been a leak in the blower?

R290 is Propane. R600 is Butane. R600a is iso-Butane. HC refrigerants are pretty much compatible with most lubricants. They don't come with any lubricant.
LPG can be anything from 100% propane to a variable propane/butane blend. All the LPG I've checked in WA has been 100% propane, but I've been told that over East it can vary seasonally.

About a 60/40 blend of Propane and iso-Butane.

The Pt approximates R12. Needs a bit more Propane to get closer to 134a if used in compressors with suction pressure capacity control.

Nor yet, any issues other than boards or fans so far they've been removed and replaced by AJ Baker.
We have one in the workshop as a spares bin/training mule.
They use a variable speed Danfoss compressor.

Another weird state licensing anomaly.
You need a gas fitters license to work on one in Qld.
In the rest of Oz us fridgies can fix them.
I've asked WTF would a plumber/gas fitter know about refrigeration but no one can tell me....

Really?

So the guys fixing domestic fridges need a gas fitting ticket?

We need to get onto it,as it won't be long we will be asked to fix something with that stuff in it.

Often when these stores,such as Aldi refurbish or whatever,the gear ends up at the local sports club or somewhere similar.

New rule out as well, refrigerant with a higher GWP can't be used in a system designed for a refrigerant with a lower GWP.Excludes HCFC's.

Yep, really.

Wayne the previous AJ Service Manager for Qld almost had a coronary when he asked which ones of us had a gas fitters license and of course the answer was none.
It took a bit to convince him we didn't need one in NSW, or any other state for that matter.

Ridiculous legislation and ranks right up there with Qld's restricted electrical licensing.

Electrolux and most all the other domestic fridge manufacturers have been using HC's for years.
