This is a drier out of a cordial dispenser. The condenser fan failed, which caused the issue. The system operates on 134a,no HP cut out which is normal industry practice on small capillary systems on this type of refrigerant.

My thoughts are it is a poor quality chinese drier,as the cordial machine is as well.

Luckily it happened at night while no one was around, but still very dangerous.

The capillary end of the drier has whipped back into the side of the machine to flatten it.

Not something you want to be near when it happens.

    Rick130,

SO the Bitzer, first set of contacters, part winding start out on overload.
    Checked everything,no fault found.Ohmed out windings,earth resistance,dry ran contacters,etc.
Replaced contacter and overload for that winding and delay timer for second set of contacters.
Had to do something as this freezer must be reliable.
The other compresser that also does the other two evaps in same room was going fine.

Ceiling of room is about 6M,and room didn't seem to be coming down quickly, weather very cool.
Got up to evaps,on pallet lifted by forklift, two out of four fans going backwards.
    Changed phases around,all good.

Funny the things that we find

They called me today, down at -19,all good.

We have been going there about a year, recently replaced the 29KW condensing unit for cold room on same site.

How did the Skope go,no i didn't have to ask

Paul, one thing I forgot to mention re Bitzers and Bocks, if the windings measure ok but they don't megger ok, remove the terminal plate and megger it.

They can break down across the glass insulators. The windings are ok.
We've had a few do that.

Also had a few dodgy contactors, and the local electrical wholesalers never have the sizes we need. One for the fridgies

If you do any work at the markets call me.
Had to do a service call there a few weeks ago in one of our new installs.
Two 400kWh chillers running at -4° suction chilling a duplex water system to the coolrooms so running temps can be adjusted really easily.
Innotech BMS running it, auto opening doors on the rooms, it's really trick.

Bloody pressure switch on the vessel had **** itself on one of the chillers.

Oh, got that bloody little cabinet going, what a nightmare! One for the fridgies

Yes,seen that on 06E carriers as well, terminal block shagged.

Contacters, yes we always use Telemechanique, when we can.Replaced two shagged 11KW on the one AC at the Sugar Mill during the week.Couldnt fault it,each compresser is driven by different PCB's.We seem to use heaps of them,i buy about 20 at a time different sizes, get a good discount, and overloads.

Those small cabinets are just about at the stage of not being viable to repair. Many are just throw away chinese crap.Unless they are built in and can't be moved out of the shop.
Skopes, the boys hate them.SOme are so complicated, its ridiculous, and they have their own fan motors we can't get anywhere else.
Old Orfords for me,we have about 40 out at wacol in the jails we fix all the time. They recently bought 6 Skopes, lasted 2 yrs, didn't take long, they dumped them all.

Just done all the paperwork for the markets, have some work to do on some DX cold rooms.
The chillers are probably looked after by Cool Dynamics at a guess. They do most of the work there, pretty big outfit.

Looks like we may be starting at the GABBA,120 rooms, plus ice makers, cabinets, glycol chillers, etc
    Fingers crossed.

I like these jobs, hasn't had a service for 8 yrs, just had some mob fixing things when they broke.
    Ridiculous.....
Found 30 systems short of gas, many cycling on LP.
    Nearly all Copeland Semi's.
15 of them are knocking or rattling,or shaking.

    And thats just the start
