Welcome to Australia Julian.
If you are around The Southern Flinders Ranges between March 29 /April 1, The Land Rover Register of South Australia are running there annual Land Rover Show at Melrose.
Regards Shane.
G'day Julian
Welcome to AustraliaI would suggest that you fill out a complaint form at Customs Dept in regards to damage done to your vehicle safe, as all they needed to do was to request that you unlock it for them to inspect at a time convenient to both.
Also I am aware that there are Landrover 65th anniversary events planned for South Australia in 2013 and I am aware that several members of this forum have/are planning to attend, so there will be a chance to meet people from other states.
cheers
Well Its been a while but I'm still here in Australia and enjoying the journey too.
I've met some really good people/land rover enthusiasts along the way who have helped me out in many ways inc. LROC Sydney, Range Rover Club Victoria etc. So thanks to those. ( you know who you are).
I have just got through the Nullabor and will be in Perth from Friday 22nd March for a while. Where I have managed to get my self and Tango on display at the big Caravanning and Camping Show in Perth.
So if I hope to meet you there and of course as my travels continue North along the Canning Stock and up to Darwin etc etc etc.
Internet and phone signals have been scarce but updates do appear on my Sports-Trek Facebook site if your interested.
Best wishes
Julian
Well I've certainly put some miles in now!
I've crossed Australia from Sydney to Perth and now up in Fitzroy Crossing.
I got here the hard way though via the wonderful Canning Stock Route all the way from Wiluna to Halls Creek. That is an adventure in itself and recommend to anyone with a bit of "get up and go". And the weather is very good to.
Unfortunately though having done all that I just spent the day waiting to get recovered. My first proper breakdown, possibly something broken in the wheel hub or a bearing issue but won't know till tomorrow how bad it is and that's if the local mechanic can help. If anyone knows a LR expert nearer than the main dealers at Broome or Darwin I'd be very grateful! You don't see many Land Rovers up here! But just about everyone waves or raises the finger just the same.
I was just about to head off into the wilds of the Kimberley's too
At least I wasn't in the middle of the CSR or later to come the Simpson Desert or Cape York.
Great trip, sorry to hear about the breakdowns. Can't help with mechanic...
I've been following some of your photos and comments on FB. Some nice scenes indeed!
