Illegal anywhere here AFAIK as it isn't behind the door or an opening window, apart from the fact it'd get crunched offroad on the first sandstone step you come across......

    These are ADR compliant.
I dont know how Mercedes managed it.
The exhaust is out the back of my older G.
The side exhausts are just for poser value.

I guess the mega-expensive G's (G55, G63, G65) are not likely to go offroad much but I know of some people who have relocated the exhaust.

The "worker" and military models dont have side exhausts.

It seem MBZ get away with a lot of things that aren't ADR compliant.

Just look at the amber side lamps on the body of the sprinter and other white vans. If I built a camper and put amber side lamps that didn't show red to the rear it wouldn't pass inspection at the RTA or one the side of the road. Yet MBZ, Ford Transit and Fiat Ducato seem to get away with it.

As for the military G-Wagen, isn't the exhaust in the same position (except on RHS) on these ones?

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
