    Diesel prices

The price of petrol is falling but diesel stays the same

The ACCC reckon its due to the high demand
    Fuel facts: Diesel prices

Hmmm..I seem to recall not so long ago that the excuse for the higher cost was diesel did not attract the same discounts as petrol due to the lower demand

How come its so cheap in NZ then?

Yep, the right price from your link in $AUD should be a bout $1.36. Best I can find in Melb is $1.45.
Nobody seems to give a **** about the diesel price ACCC included.

Yup I saw unleaded today for 124 cents per litre!!

Diesel was 152 cents per litre..

In NZ you have to pay road user charges if you use Diesel.. you have to pay upfront x amount per thousand kms so that cost is added to the price..

One of the reasons why diesel is do pricey is primary industry's are subsidized. So those that need it most are getting it cheap and the general public have to make up difference. The old give with one hand take with the other. Reckon that in stead of a mining tax they should have a means test for fuel use/ rebate and make fuel over all cheaper. As in big billion dollar mining mobs pay full price and the over all cost of fuel is cheaper.

I've noticed that diesel pricing is far more stable than petrol. It doesn't seem to be subject to the same "pricing war" daily movement. My local petrol station changes petrol prices every 1-2 days, whereas the diesel price changes perhaps once a month.

Admittedly you don't get the cheap days, but there are periods each month where the petrol price can be up to 4-5c HIGHER than diesel. Plus you don't have to worry about making sure you fill up on the right days to avoid weekend price hikes. That has to be worth something?

having worked and still working at a servo the price of petrol changes every week at least once and diesel maybe once a month. I really think it is all just a case of well others are charging this so we will, and a lot of the diesel that we sell here is to trucks and company's so they are not worried about the price , they just fill it up.
