A popular take out shop in town is right next to one of the 24 hour gyms, full of tough guys
They all drive Jeeps, with the black rims, big muddies, walking around in their tight shirts sneering at me.
I just laugh whenever I pass them pulled over with their bonnets up :lol2:
The last time I got a smart comment about my land rover from someone I told them in front of a load of people
" my wife likes it because it comes from a country that does not eat Whales, and always handy to keep the wife happy. "
And then just walked off. He could not really come back with that one and everyone laughed at him.
I'm used to copping this mindless crap from certain types of people. I have loved and driven Volvo cars since before I got my license. You usually find the the manufactures that go above and beyond the norm cop crap for simply being different. The first Volvo rolled off the line in 1927 and ever since, they have been at the cutting edge of innovation and safety. They are legendary for being safe, economical, practicaland reliable, always pushing boundaries and generously not patenting their breakthrough designs. Can you imagine life without the 3 point seatbelt? Volvo owners cop more crap than most, usually from uneducated idiots that have not even had a ride in one let alone drive one. Usually the square slow jokes then I tell them to have a look at my 1800S. Shuts them up instantly. It's the same with Land Rover. Usually from Toyota drivers. The Japanese are the worlds greatest imitators. Land Rover lead the way. Hold your head high and give a sad shake of the head to the uninitiated!!!!!. Love being the minority.
Regards
Robbo.
My boss drives a Disco as well. He's only jealous that mine's newer than his. :p
There's a little Irish bloke in the office (great bloke) who is always giving us (me in particular) heaps about driving a Landrover. He drives a Yaris. :o
I've told him many times that his Yaris will make a great wheel chock if I ever want to park out in the side street which is on a bit of a hill, and I want something more than my park brake to rely on. :D
He used to work for a large Toyota dealership ........... and even after that experience, he still drives one ........ AND he recommends them to others. :(
Ive nothing against toyotas either; had I been wealthier Id have liked to have owned one of those 70/75/79 series ute things especially that v8 diesel... they get a lot of miles under their belts just like the landies can, but their resale value is quite high even for high mileage and I like the comfort concessions my disco gives me as well as character in its form
I've got nothing against Toyotas either. I've had quite a few over the years, and recently bought a near new Camry for SWMBO.
It's just funny to note that most people who like to hang crap on us for driving Landrovers drive a Toyota ................... or a Nissan.
in my hobby community we call that sort of behaviour (collecting multiples) a 'conga' lol
