I get lots of stupid comments every so often, especially from some customers who see them in my shop for repair.

I suppose my in-laws are/were the most who look down their noses as Toyota/ or big US pick up fans. The last couple of times I drove up there to just south the Canadian border (1300 miles each way) they haven't said too much!

Reason; they my in laws live on a mountain and log off of it.
The car of choice is a Toyota Highlander Hybrid, but on a very slippery steep down hill trail decent once upon a time the D2, I own showed some superior qualities.

If your HDC is beeping constantly when engaged, then it isnt set up properly.

For HDC to work properly, low range, put it in drive, push the button, and let the car do the work.

You might be trying to lock it back into 1st or 2nd, if you are getting constant beeps...

Constant beeps means the operating parameters for HDC haven't been met, was brought up in a thread a few days ago

One of my mates owns a very nicely kept 1986 petrol 80 series, another owns a petrol 2007 pajero, another a 2009 mercedes 4x4, another a LX470 lexus and all have come for a ride in my restored 1986 Tdi300 series 1 manual and all have commented on how smooth and comfortable it is to be in.
The main comment is "I can't believe this is a 1986 vehicle it is more like a 2006" one. It actually impressed them.

HDC only works in low range doesn't it? At least mine only doesn't beep when in low and makes sense since you want max speed control while minimising use of brakes.

The V8 diesel use more oil than Land Rovers have ever leaked. Complaints of excess consumption, I've seen a dealer painted "oil consumption schedule" where the owner had to keep a log of oil topped up. Less than 7L/1000k's was considered acceptable.

I's rather be an idiot with a Land Rover than a knob without!

These types of comments never cease to amuse me , I go away to the vic H/county every year with a bunch of one eyed collingwood toyo drivers and always cop flak for driving a landie , The funny thing is the first year i went away with them one so called unbreakable did break down on the last day
Not being very good at being diplomatic usualy i did manage to hold off as no one is happy to be stranded with a dead car in the bush , Well the decision was made to leave mr unbreakable and the now very large paper weight at camp with all the supplies we had left from the weekend hell i even left my tools so when replacement parts were brought in they could fix it ,

The following day his mates returned with a new radiator and a engine mount .

The best part is i still go away with these guys and when they have had a belly full of grog and try to rev me up , I simply remind these narrow minded people how many times ive been away with them and the landie always drives home and hell just to upset them even more i remind them how confident i was to leave my tool,s with the said unbreakable with the thought of knowing my landie will get me home safely
