Friends on the other side of the road (that is refered to as the 'dark' side) must have been looking at this pic - here's their lights, with ours reflected.

Steer clear of those rope lights what Bunnings sell if you are worried about electricity cost.
The Wife picked one up and at first I though it was LED, on closer inspection its just a bit of glowing wire and they get quite warm (they call em 'fused') . Got the wattage meter out and 275 watts for the 20metre one :mad:
Amazing they can still sell them with the big push to low energy globes.
They do have LED ones but they are not as easy to find.

:p....but it isn't his B'day anyway. All this guff has its roots in paganism....and northern hemisphere seasonal rituals. It is about as far from a christian celebration as it can get.
Google reveals this;
The True Origin of Christmas
which has a basic outline of what I meant.

I think most would know that Christmas has it's origins in some ancient pagan ritual, but leave it to the yanks to take it to the legal system to sort it out. [bigrolf][bigrolf][bigrolf][bigrolf][bigrolf][bigrolf][bigrolf]

The thing that ****s me about Xmas lights here anyway is how every ****** drives around looking at them parking on your lawn or in the middle of the road ect and general being pests at all hours of the night
