Absolutely brain dead, $44 and $4 million worth of bad publicity.
They also booked the 2 motor bikes escorting the truck.
Would have been better for them to escort the truck and bikes.

Talking about funny things some police do...
At Binalong, NSW, there used to be a policeman, off duty who would drink at the local up until a couple of minutes until closing time. He'd leave then return several minutes later and book the pub for trading after hours...

I think it's pretty sad that the truck in question isn't being escorted round the town by the cops, with the disco lights blazing. Usually if something like this occurs at home, the police, fire brigade, etc pull out all the stops to bring a bit of christmas spirit to the locality. It's the kind of advertising and community spirit that money can't buy. As someone else said, what thy have now is a $44 ticket, and $4 million worth of bad press to deal with.

Got agree that a police escort would have been positive advertising for the police and might help people see they are made up of normal citizens.

This will now just hurt the uniform image.

That happened in some western Qld pubs as well, back in the day, the copper leaving was the hint time was up. Usually happened when the boys got restless. Behave, you stay longer, punch on, the copper usually came back, gave you the option, if you were silly enough to put your hands up, at that houir of the morning, you were frogmarched to the lockup. Surprisingly, no-one got hurt, no-one held a grudge. [ not much, anyway] Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Compared to a few years ago, the camera system has cleaned up what was a big problem in Ipswich. This system has been studied and adopted by many councils over the state. The latest is the Gold Coast where it is being used to great effect. Nuff said from me.
As good as the system is it has it's flaws, did it stop the 5 year child getting a needle stick injury in Brown's Park even though the park is circled by no fewer than 5 safecity camera poles each with both fixed and rotating cameras capable of zooming and night vision.
I'm sorry but they do little to deter the undesirables the same as any camera in a servo or bottle shop.
I agree that Paul is passionate about Ipswich and has no bigger supporter than me but he got it wrong this time. If the company and their driver and the escort bike riders were in the right don't you think that they would be fighting to have their day in court so that the full and truthful story could be presented.

Thank you for your comments and I respect your right to a differing opinion

It now looks like Sapar and their drivers will be getting a police escort next year. If that's not damage control.........................!
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

On the news last night. The coppers relented but guess what, the fines were not withdrawn. No wonder some of them don't need birth certificates to join.

pub should of dobbed him in, because presumably for him to be able to book anyone he would have to be considered on duty....in which case he would be under the influence on duty..again assuming the drinking he was doing contained alcohol
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
