    Pathetic ticket.

A local Ipswich landscape supply company, Sapar, have for over ten years driven round the suburbs handing out Christmas treats to kids. Last night the local police ticketed the driver and grounded the truck. The life threatening offence was having too many Christmas decorations! Well done Queensland Police, it's pedantic bull **** like this that alienates the service from the general public. A years hard work by decent Officers has been undone in ten minutes by one or two heros.
At this time of year police time could be far better spent making sure arsonists don't torch our schools (one already burnt down last night) than writing out $44 tickets to community minded individuals and companies.

By the looks of it,if that booking officer smiled, his face would fall in half.

Paul Pisasale, Ipswich mayor and all round good guy, said the cop should be transfered to the North Pole to chill out. Rather witty and appropriate I thought.

About 50yrs ago there was a motorcycle policeman that booked a speeding car on the Sydney Harbour Bridge,it was the then NSW Police Commissioner who was summoned to an underworld murder, that policeman, when he finished his shift found his transfer to Tweed Heads processed and approved to take effect forthwith, and this officier needs a similar type of transfer

Anybody remember "Dickenson the Terror of the Tweed"

Didn't he die on his unlit bike, following a truck one night?

Yup! sure did, as far as I am aware,New England H'way around Armidale way I think, under the back of a semi, he had a habit of following them at night unlit, waiting for them to put wheels over the double centre lines, he would then switch on his lights and breach the driver.

Rumour has it that trucks travelling in the opposite direction would signal the driver by turning on the cab interior light,in this case the driver just applied his trailer brakes, seems the the trailer stoplight connection was faulty and the remains of the motorcycle was discovered wedged under the trailer when it entered the lit streets of Armidale.

That was what I was informed by a retired truck driver whom was in Armidale at the time.

He booked me just over the Tweed border for only having one numberplate on my FJ sedan, (Queensland "Q" plate only 1 issued) I pointed that out to him when he read that on the rego papers he booked me for a faded numberplate never did pay that fine must of been about 1964/5

    cheers
