The World's deadliest arms race (IEDs in Afghanistan)

Bob, Juddy etc just to clarify after I re-read my post, I am only having a go at the whole 'theatre' over there, and the reasons behind it. Those that make the decision to go there have the free will to do so, or not. My post was not about them, it is about how unbelievably disconnected from the loss of human lives that modern warfare has become. Sitting in a control room in the USA while your remote destroys targets in another country is mind numbing to me.:(

sadly, the war is being controlled by idiots who play by the rules and still believe that being the nice guy works.

the only way to get an edge in that kind of operation IMO is to become a bigger threat than your enemy, if the locals are more scared of you than the people who were scaring them, your target loses support fast.....

I have family serving over there at the moment, they are heavily involved in the IED and counter IED tasks. It is a very dangerous task but one that is vital for the increased survivability of the rest of the ISAF forces.

On 17 Jan next year I would have been in 19 years, had I stayed in uniform.
