Hi there,
I've had one for a year or two. I'm a cappuccino man. I always get Capriccio. My wife gets Ristretto, which I find a bit bitter. Love the machine though. Can't go back to instant coffee. When I go camping now, i take a stainless steel plunger (from ebay). No instant coffee for me. Nothing like good coffee in the middle of nowhere:cool:!

Had mine for a few years also, when I buy capsules I keep going back to the same ones, the Ristreto, the Indriya both 10's ( not sure of the spelling) and the Fortisso Lungo for the large cup.
I would point out one thing though if you don't know, like most coffee the capsules do not like being over extracted, so only run water through them once, or the coffee will be bitter, if you want more water in the cup then pop the capsule out and hit the water button again to just get hot water. Or bung in a fresh capsule for double and enjoy an intense one..
I took my nespresso on our last trip, worked great on the sites with power, but did not work so well on the crappy inverter I had, Coffee was just warm and it played up, that said waking up in the Simpson to a nice Ristretto was great.
Join the club and get your coffee delivered, it is quick and probably cheaper than fuel to pick them up, but there is less chance of you bumping into George Cluny

Dont necessarily believe the ratings on them. I have found some of the lower rated ones to be better tasting or stronger than some of the higher ones. It also depends on the cup size for the strength too. The purple ones are a good normal use. Also depends on how you drink your coffee (cup, mug or espresso cup).Quote:

I bought the wife a Nespresso U for Christmas. She's loving it and the milk frothing attachment is much better than trying to steam milk. She's working her way through the sample pods and likes most of them, the decaf ones aren't winning too many friends though.
In addition to the ones people have listed already she also like the Romano one, she's a latte drinker as well.

If I were you I'd try the Pure Origins, Rosabaya and Dulsao. The have a good flavour and are not too strong. (Personally I like the stronger pods).
Also, listen to Pat, don't over extract and if your machine is automatic (most are now days) make sure you push the correct button for the pod. If you or Ian like a mug of coffee from time to time then get some lungo sized pods, don't wring out a short shot pod.
If you like a weeker or longer coffee do as Pat says and top up with hot water. I use water from the kettle as I have this idea that water coming through the machine may pick up some old oils and stains but this is probably not something I could pick in a blind comparison.
I'm thrilled with my Nespresso but there is no point in saying it makes a great coffee, it makes a good coffee. I grab an overpriced but really great coffee when I get an opportunity but happy to save money and time with Nespresso most of the time.
Have several machines over the past 8 years or so, some given away when I got the Latissima due to volume of frothed milk when having guests. Also have one for the bedroom (good use for the Waeco when not travelling).
I like the Livanto, but have also programmed the machine to have a shorter draw.
If I want something different, I use the Capsul-in and fill it with ground coffee; that way I'm not restricted to what Nestlé offers.
yep the Dulsao one is lovely I had that one last night...I do drink out of a mug however I just do the one pass on the capsule as I like my late weak anyway..and then I just top up with milk...mmmmmmm
and its funny you should say that Graid because I had a lungo one which was only supposed to be intensity 3 and I found it really strong! but I guess thats because the Lungos are designed to be drawn in to a large latte glass...
perhaps I should try the Romano one..after i try Cosi tonight:)
I got the other 1/2 one for Xmas & we were wondering if you could use milk instead of water so it makes a milk coffee? Has anyone tried it. Also the mugs she likes to use are about 300ml what would be a good coffee to have in that size mug.
Interesting thread for me, I got the Aldi Expressi machine from Santa and it seems that both machines take the same pods.
K-Fee is the pod system Aldi uses, and if anyone can confirm that Nespresso uses the same there a few more to try.

Sorry Stevo, the pods for the aldi and Nespresso are different sizes and can't be used. The Aldi machine and coffee pods are still very good. My Parent's have one and goes well.
