Was very disapointed this evening to see on the news that they have to wait for insurers to investigate "before" stock can be put down.
I can't believe their making burnt/mamed animals suffer longer than needed.

That is heartless but then again, they are insurance companies.
I would think that RSPCA Inspectors would be able to put down suffering animals irrespective of insurance companies.
In fact I would suspect the RSPCA would have a case against insurance companies if they prolongued animal suffering and it would only take a couple of RSPCA complaints to stop the practice.
I doubt that the RSPCA would have the resouces.Under these circumstances access to fire areas is limited.Farmers know their stock Surely there are sufficeent records of stock numbers etc in accountancy figures on line or with
various agencies to ensure that no excessive claims are made.To leave badly burned and shockingly injured stock in pain is the farmers worst nightmare especially when they are under enough stress already.
Don't hear the animal libbersmaking any helpfuf suggestions

There's no other real way to put it - when I heard that last night on the news I was ****ed off. I still am. How absolutely disgusting that is. And all for the name of a few dollars.
Claims that aired during a TV news story last night that insurance companies need to assess injured livestock before they can be euthanased, are false.

We had one in the next town (Wallan) heading (north) our way and if it wasn't for a bit of luck and the tireless efforts of the CFA then who knows what would have happened. Scary stuff!
