    Fires around Canberra??

    I need to drive from Cairns to Canberra, and then on to Merimbula at the end of the month. Are there any web sites that will tell me what roads are closed due to fire danger, or current fires along the route? In the planning stage now, and am not sure if flying is the better option. A road trip would be nice, but I don't want to put the family in harms way. Also it is for a wedding, so don't want to miss it due to delays and detours.

    NSW Rural Fire Service under current incedents has an interactive map of NSW with the most current fire conditions.

    Fires near me, all one word, and has an app for free...plenty of good info on it for nsw and surrounding ACT.

    Those are the three. The fires near me also tells you how close the nearest fire is to you location if you have it enabled. Worth while.

    Right now near Canberra the roads are open. It's only the small local traffic into the affected area that they are limiting. Obviously things can change instantly.
