Hi team,
Been a vol in Tas. for over 37 years, but currently in a Brigade without a vehicle. Logistics. We get to use whatever is around to the job, always on the bigger fires.
Very interesting reading your inputs.
Here, the Parks/Wildlife are the only ones to have LR light tankers.
Forrestry use toyotas and such.
The TFS use only current shape Toyotas for light tankers.
ALL appliances and most personnel carriers are diesels. All fairly new -20yrs.
Bravo twincabs mostly for p. carriers.
There are some petrol Subaru cars.
Urban trucks are in class 1.1 etc and 2.1 etc
Class 3 is a heavy 4x4 tanker.
Class 4 is a medium 4x4 tanker.
Class 5 is a light 4x4 tanker.
Then 6, aerial.
Class 7 is any personel/flat tray Toyota vehicle.
Class 8 is any special equipt/facility truck.
Going to Ford Rangers as a sub for the Toyotas when they go out of production.
We build all our attack vehicles up from cab-chassis.
Going/gone to crew cab trucks.
No crew to ride on the back of anything anymore.
Same colour scheme as Vic/NSW, but layouts are a bit different.
Some Brigades are getting into RAR work.
Sorry no photos avail.
Our fires still needing IMT for a few days yet.
Rovers4.
My last brigade before changing uniform ;)

These are two photos of our new 34 during burnover training last night. Sorry that the pics are a little dodgy. The truck is great - its the same one that Diggers brigade now has - but also has the same problems. DPF and limp mode. Real stupid to have on a fire truck.

Anyway that's a few from over the years. I actually haven't got any shots of the Tassie vehicles, which is weird as I started down here and obviously finishing down here too ;)
Thanks All! It is always interesting to see how things are done elsewhere. I will look up and post some photos of the rigs from around here.

Probably the same truck that I have memories of working on with you on occasion back when I used to spend a lot of time on this: :D

A bit of a teaser but I have an ex CMF mate who has just come into ownership of an Ex army 70's International Mk 3 fire tender from Monegeeta with a Perkins engine. I think it he said it has around 7,000klm or miles on it. Currently being resprayed so I'll post up some pics next time I visit him...
