frantic..yeah a 110 ute seems like a good way to go..do the 300tdi's need much in the way of power upgrades or are they pretty grunty for most stuff?

Why don't you pop up to British Off Road and check out their comp Disco 1's and also a couple of the staff cars, they will tell you then what would be the best vehicle for your needs, I know that they use their vehicles up at Landcruiser park at Jimna.just ask for micheal "Ninja" at the spares counter, they are also a TerraFirma agent, and can explain about Cranked Radious Rods etc.

They can also "breathe" on a 300TDI to give it more grunt.

    cheers

Gwyn lewis, x-eng, QT, terrafirrma and numerous others will give you ideas on how to increase suspension travel. If you want a cheap rear diff lock look to the u.s to grab a detroit(lucky8)for the salisbury or ashcroft in the U.K for their air locker and stronger axles, cv's and everything else drivetrain.
A salisbury axels and diff aye? are they the same as series Landy's

Why would Land rover change to a weaker diffs and axels after 02,03 which is midway through the TD5 MODEL?
