Easy, early 60's ford Thunderbird. My guess is 61-63, there is a badge on the B pillar .
G'day All,
Can anyone identify the make and model of the car in the Australian Crawl clip for their song Reckless (1983) - okay it is not a Land Rover and a Yank Tank. My thoughts are a Chevy? It is highly likely that assumption is wrong. It seems to have had the badges taken off it on the video clip.
Kind Regards
Lionel

Yes I will second that, yes the badging gives it away!--good spotting LoanRangie
Euphemistically called a "turdbird" in these 'ere parts pardner!
By the way, its turn of the century new "Turbird" rendition by Ford was equally not received too well! The world has moved on!

A 60's Thunderbird.

G'day Loanrangie,
With your narrowing down to a Thunderbird I found out that it was a 1965 model. I did see the wing badge on the B pillar but did not recognise it apart from a bit of chrome. This model had the square tail lights

Actually they weren't bad as American iron was concerned, the 391cu" incher big block was reliable and suited the US roads very well at the time. Lines & body styling were nice for the time. Beach Boys even had a song about them!
Euphemistic names are often given to certain cars on this side and it really depends upon which camp of the big three you had affinity for. ' Still does in fact at the drive by and meets you can go to here in the summer time.
Just from my perspective having grown up with Brit cars I tend to find stuff like a nice Jag S type, MK7 and its refined handling just a bit better.
Of course in my wild youth I managed to scrounge a 1956 Ford Fairlane in pink and grey from my cousin who was a horse trader type with departing Yank forces from Brize Norton AFB in Oxfordshire.
Overall I liked it albeit the suspension was a bit soft for English country roads and lanes. Still with two bench seats and three on the tree shifter , there was plenty of room for girls. Fat ones mostly to keep the back end down for some competitive bend swinging against Vauxhall Crestas , Ford Zodiacs, Austin Westminsters et al, after leaving rock and roll dances full of beer.on the way to the local curry house that was open with beer and vindaloos food 'til 1,00 am
Wonder we all survived it including the food and grog thinking back
Cheers Dennis

Was following a few nice Tbirds the other day. Looked like they were on their way to a hit.

A mate in LA owns this one. It is a fairly tidy original car and is getting just enough restoration/refurbishment to keep it that way. There is another photo of it in the thread Cars on the Streets of LA
