It's a real shock when a Volly is lost. We call them stagg branches, come within seconds of being clouted a couple times myself, heard the creaking and ran for it. We are instructed to always look up particularly when doing mop ups where the fire got into the canopy.
I feel for his family, particularly the kids.

Back on black Saturday in the evening I was out in the back of Kinglake in the water truck and came very very close to wearing a burning/burnt tree on the cabin. Certainly puts the wind up ya and showed me how easily and quick it can happen.

Yeah, mate bloody hard to take. When you are in a close knit group, it's like losing a member of your family. We never know what lays ahead, hug your family, tell them you love them, and if the worst happens , try to be strong. Bob
