That's another thing I like....12v you can work on yourself!
Been thinking about cheap PIR sensors for a while....hall lights, porch lights, bathroom/toilet lights all run off PIR so nobody leaves them on. Combined with LEDs and that will cut my power bill heaps.
Next step solar hot water and some more insulation....then I'll start thinking about power generation.
More effective to reduce use than to generate more.

For some reason I really want a wind turbine....have since I was a kid.
Strange thing for a ten year old to be wanting I know...but then I was a strange kid!
Noticed Jaycar are selling 500W turbines for just under a grand....and my place gets lots of mid speed wind all through winter and spring...

A fellow in tassie (boat harbour) put in a vertical vein turbine, apartantly dosnt need to be as high to get clear air and also quieter and produces better from less air flow. I wanted to put one in years ago and the council wouldnt approve the tower in residential. The smaller cheaper ones dont last on the west coast of tassie, I know a few disherman that use them and they now spend about 10k I am led to beleive
