    V8s COTF

ok, only been watching a little bit this arvo, but the 2 main things ive got from the new series are:

#1 did you know Casey Stoner is now racing V8s!!!!!!!.......no seriously, Casey Stoner is racing V8s. OMG!!!!!

#2 they can no longer adjust the rear roll center height...this seems almost a amegedon type change....btw Casey Stoner is now racing V8s. But thing to remember is now the driver can no longer change roll center height. It means that the teams will have to set the car up better from the outset for each track. But in good news, Casey Stoner is racing V8s, and lucky for him, he is driving a 2010 car, by all acounts is more $$$ than the new ones, but hey, he can adjust roll center heights.

oh I should have said 3 things:

Casey Stoner is actually now racing V8s. WOW! on a not so good note, if he actually does well and graduates to the main league, he will no longer be able to adjust his roll center height.

Betcha they can change the RC height, just can't adjust quickly during a pit stop.

Used to do it 20 years ago on IRS/wishbone rear ends with a widely spaced clevis on the transaxle with spacers above and below the spherical bearing, so it becomes like a spring or damper change, not a 1.5 second job.

And Casey Stoner is driving in the feeder series !

#1 my thoughts exactly. Not that I had any actual idea, but im thinking "hey its idependant suspension on a race car, surely there are adjustable points that make it better than a live axle"

#2, yes the feeder series. but still a VVVVVV8 I thought the new cars were ment to be cheaper to control the sprialing costs. CS is running MS 2010 winning car apparently

    Car
    Of
    The
    Future

Its the new series and car of the V8 supercars, or touring cars as they were called.

CS Casey Stoner.....sorry I only referred to him once. Did you know he is now racing in the V8 series, not the top class, just below it. In, ironically a car that he can change the roll center height. The car is Mark Skafie's former 2010 winning car.

btw CS is now racing MS old car in the feeder series to COTF.

haha I know I was really just taking the **** out of what little I saw yesterday. It was kinda funny as they present it kinda for dummies, but get all "tech" with terms like roll center.....

Im not sure what the actual series is called? They have been referring to COTF for the last year now but Im sure they cant call the series that. It would now have to be called Car Of The Present.....

Its the first time Ive actually been interested in V8s in many many years. Good to see some other brands. Yes I know its a one chassis class, but atleast the engines are brand related. The Nissan and Merc more so

I have to say I'm a fan, no one can wring the neck of a MotoGP bike like he can
    Turn 3, Philip Island, CS27,

Just a shame I won't get to watch him do that anymore, unless the rumours are true of a wildcard appearance at Philip Island on a factory RCV Honda

I raced cars but would much rather watch the bikes any day.
