    Vic Number plates...what's after ZZZ-999?

I notice we are rapidly running out of Number plate letters down here.

    (Well into the Z series)

Anyone out there heard what Vic Roads will issue after ZZZ-999?

    Something similar to NSW perhaps?

When we run out of plates, that's it. No more cars allowed on the road.

(How I wish that was true.)
Seriously, SA have a plate with seven characters. "S" followed by three numbers an three letters. Maybe we'll be going something similar with a "V" in front.

    Hi,
In Malaysia (1960s) the number plates had a logical code that you could immediately recognise the vehicle's home state, the year of first registration and guess an approximate month of that year.
It made the vehicle plate a bit more meaningful at a glance which must have some policing benefits.
    cheers

If policing is the primary purpose, I imagine the future we may just have a transponder or barcode.

I am hoping for something that I could make a nice personalised plate out of! (I know I know, vanity plate!)

Boring, but true, AAA001 with a new safety message, Vic - don't drive badly, or similar. I saw AAA 003 on a prius around Christmas time.

I love the idea of a barcode. You could swap other peoples plates around and no one would notice.

I could understand them issuing unused numbers but they can't reissue the whole alphabet again. Imagine the screw ups with Citylink and the revenue cameras.....sorry.....safety cameras

How many cars from the 60's & 70's still are using the reg numbers from back then?
Not many, so they just skip the ones already paying rego- easy
