Thread: Has any one had any luck with Aldi Electrical products?

Mario, there are some that are good, but they are few and far between.

It's been about 50:50 for me so far, a $19 stick blender crapped itself after a fortnight, but the 9500lb winch has been a corker.

I've looked at some of the power tools, but not seen any that have filled me with confidence.

Their coffee machines work OK (the pod type).
I had a memory stick that went through a full wash cycle and survived (Tevion which I think is their own brand).
I know a few people who have PC's from Aldi with no problems.
I got a TV memory stick (TV receiver for your PC) that worked OK but I haven't used it for a few years.

A fried is a manageress at an Aldi store. Their returns policy is great. People buy a digital camera for their holidays then return for credit because they don't like it. They buy the 'no-name' brand liquor drink 3/4 of the bottle then return for credit because they don't like the taste.

Our aldi TV is mediocre, the volume self adjusts as if it is getting interference from another remote, but with the receiver covered with black tape, you can watch the volume bar increase or decrease every now and again. It has to be switched off at the wall rather than left on standby as the image doesn't come up properly for a while otherwise.
But I watch TV once every couple of months so better value than something expensive!

Their SD cards have proven good over a few years, their Dremel-style motor tools are better than a Dremel, I use them weekly and bought three aldi motor tools and still using the first two years later. My mum has an aldi camera which would be great except it didn't have instructions and she is a technophobe...

I too have had mixed luck with aldi electrical, but I always file the receipts away. It's essential. The accept returns without question.

We have bought a small TV/DVD combo and a microwave from Aldi and both no problem at all.

The Medion computers are really good. My father in law has bought a couple over the years (he lives in Holland, but we have seen the same computers here...)

Don't know if I would personally trust the winches, because they are idle until you really need them, then if they don't work, the returns policy still wont get you out of the bog. (just my opinion, founded on nothing at all)

If you hunt around on here Marshall, you'll find a number of people who rate them highly. Blknight.aus has even given the thumbs up (after replacing the grease in the gearbox)

I forgot to mention the air tools I've had from Aldi. So far, I've had an air cut off tool, that I think cost me $19 with 2 cutting disks (and was just the job for cutting out the hole for my snorkel), and a 3/8 air ratchet set that was about $30 with a handful of sockets.
Also a light gauge nail gun (up to 50mm nails and staples).

All of the air stuff has been spot on, no failures at all. And the ratchet in particular has seen a lot of use.
