    Snakes alive

Just been talking to the bloke next door on his ride on, in the yard up behind our houses. To see him mowing like that is most unusual, so I went over to see if he was ok.
He told me that he had defused one Taipan and one Brown snake in the yard this morning. He has three beautiful little kids and I warned him months ago about snakes in the long grass. Both were only about 3ft long but still nasty gits.
In the last five years I have bunged three Taipan and two Browns in my yard, all full size.
Blacks, grass and pythons passing my back door I dont mind, I just ask them to rack off, but those other two, no way.

Never had anything that nasty in the house but a few years ago I was amused when a young four foot black snake chased a small lizard into our dining room ( wanted him for brekky I imagine ), anyway Betty shooed him back out of the house with a straw broom, really gave his rear end a pizzlin. He's probably still going.

Makes me think about a story of a friends grandfather, old cocky living In a shaq on the farm, they got there many a time to find him frozen in the chair watching tele after a snake came threw the gaps in the floor boards and climbed up his trousers!!! And this was aparently a common thing for the old cocky who would just sit there not moving just waiting for the snake to leave.... Lol I had a good old chuckle picturing that one, mind you after seeing the house and the gaps in the floorboards it was quite believable, not to mention all the holes from the .410 when the finialy would leave him, puts a whole new meaning to the saying trouser snake lol, I opted to sleep in the car for both nights we were there hunting lol

At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.

When we were out west on sheep & cattle properties many years ago, the toilet [ long drop] & 'shower' ,[ gravity fed pipe from the dam, ] were accessed by a longish walk down a concrete path. At night, the big browns would sleep on the path getting the heat from the day. We thought it was hilarious when rellies visited from the big smoke, give them a torch, say ' keep your eye on the path, might find a blue tongue.' I swear the cousin didn't wash for 2 weeks. Thanks for the memories, Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Your meant to say , you did not harm them the browns and taipans , you bunged them into a bag and let them go in the bush ,as snakes are a protected species and huge fines can be imposed for killing them

Snakes are a part of life in many parts of this country, and I guess I have gotten used to them.

I still get a bit of a surprise when I find one though!
