    Availability of parts Broome WA

I'm looking at heading up to Broome later in the year. Has anyone had any experience with getting Land Rover parts (especially for a Defender) up to Broome. A friend suggested I would be crazy to take a Landy (I'm assuming in contrast to a Toyota / Nissan) up there and not expect great expense.

Has anyone spent time in northern WA that could give me a first hand account? I know there will be an abundance of Landcruisers and Patrols up there but I'm pretty sure it's the perfect spot to take the Landy.

you friend has little idea, I live in the north west alot more remote than broome and never have trouble getting parts for my landy. granted I get them all delivered in the post, alot of them from the uk, but it normally cheaper and faster than ordering parts from australian stores. take it with you, it wont be the only landy in town

Thank you for your reply. When in doubt, ask those in the know! I'm sure this is covered in other posts but do you have any specific companies in the UK you regularly order from?

Linn Rover let me down and never fixed it - I wouldn't recommend them. I use Roverparts and CLR, but otherwise I've given up on Australian suppliers. You can get stuff from the UK to Broome easily, since I'm down the road and I get things from England in a week or two.

You friend hasn't got a clue and that's very funny, the idea that you wouldn't take a Landie up here. (Tell him we said so! ) What often happens is it's hard to get parts for Toyotas because they sell out so fast. But in reality there are so many different makes around that nobody can stock everything. Up north, almost everything is ordered in.

Get your car into top condition, take the obvious things like filters and belts and whatever, drive sensibly and you'll be fine. There are quite a few different Landies in Broome.
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.

    Got it in one.

Tip No 1. Don't run obscure brand odd size tyres, carry a compressor and don't be afraid to adjust tyre pressures to suit the terrain.
Tip No 2. Don't listen to people that tell you to drive fast over corrugations, or if you do carry spare shockers, shocker mounts, springs, rubbers etc.

I too live in the Pilbara and its true you cant buy parts locally
That said I dont think you can get parts for anything locally
The last parts I ordered from All 4x4 in Newcastle arrived in 2 days
Not sure what sort of parts you need I have lots of stuff for Defenders if you get caught.

That's a shame that they let you down. Can I ask how they let you down and what do they need to do to fix things?

like i said they have been good to me.

    Hi
I currently live in broome and it amazed me how many landies are here. Quite a few fenders, discos 1 and 2, a few rrc and at least 1 d4 and I think a rrs I see is also local or at least close. I currently work in the auto spare parts industry and rest asured I get quite a few toyota parts from perth. Buy them yourself and have them frieghted, dont get any service centres to do it for you, the frieght will be loaded. Expect to pay around the $30 to $50 for an average type item in saying that JC got a td5 engine from tassie to broome for me for $5-600 dollars
    cheers
