    Airless tyres

Sounds like the days of putting air in tyres may be numbered.
Flat tyres to become a things of the past with airless variety coming soon | Information, Gadgets, Mobile Phones News & Reviews | News.com.au

Well maybe not at $1000 a piece but the price will eventually drop. Might not be much good for off roaders though as how do you increase the tyre footprint!
    Can't let air out anymore

Hmmm, might make it a bit hard adjusting pressures for different surfaces.

This style of tyre has appeared at intervals over the last 150 years or so, but has never been around for very long.

Imagine the out-of-balance if you get stuck in the mud for a bit and half the wheel clogs up.

I wonder how much heat they build up at speed?

I would use them if :

    - lighter
    - quieter
    - interchangeable rubber tread
    - can imitate low pressure air with an adjustable inner core that allows it to deform more offroad.
    - removable sides that cover the inner core from picking up mud etc.

The pic shows the demo version to show off the construction. The production tyres have sidewalls so should be no different than normal tyres for collecting mud etc.

"There is no sidewall on the demonstration tyres but those made available for the public to buy will likely have sidewalls and look like normal tyres"
A motorcycle version would be good from a safety aspect as a high speed blowout on the front usually ends in tears, well the one I had years ago certainly did

That makes sense, you could even inflate them to raise their speed and load ratings. A "flat" wouls still give you adequate ride and control and perhaps be speed limited to 80km/h.
