Mate, Scarbies the go. If i've got time off I'll bring the boat down. Ranga lives within a flies poopie of the park as well. I'm also a member of the Moreton Bay Boat Club, which is about 200m from the park, so we could meet up & have a feed and perhaps a glass of your preferred beverage.
Cheers
Steve
Wow, what a generous and helpful bunch you are! Some great ideas here thanks.
The north of Sydney idea is good, but thinking of somewhere a smidge warmer, especially if in a camper trailer.
Brissy is sounding promising and could be quite nice, we'll look into that. Beers at the boat club especially, as long as it's not XXXX. :D:p
Cooktown really tickles my fancy, especially my ability to take more leave and squeeze in a cape trip, and would be good for the kids to see where their great grandmother (who is still alive in Melbourne) was born there in 1918. After discussion with some colleagues about this plan, my wife had some advice that it could be better to be at a larger hospital for the re-training to get her head back into things so that may scuttle the idea - but hopefully not! I'm guided by her on that one.
I'll let you know what eventuates.
Have a look here, from the Trailers, Vans and Campers section of the Forum, could be handy when traveling.

Baz.
The Gold Coast has a nice caravan/camping park right on the waterfront that is only 2 kms from the Hospital.. lot's of facilities close by for the kids and entertainment.. be prepared to pay for it though as I believe it's not the cheapest park around.. their rates are on the website.

If you are thinking of coming up to the north of Brisbane why. Not think of Caboolture, there is Caboolture Hospital, with both a private and public, and Regis nursing home very close by,it has aged and palative care,Caboolture is also close to Bribie Island, with caravan and camping facilities, there is also a caravan park at Caboolture, look up Moreton Bay Regional Council that will give you info on both Redcliffe and Caboolture as well as Bribie Island
