Beach and Caravan park near hospital

My wife has to do a nursing placement for 4 weeks to get her qualifications back. It doesn't have to be a hospital - just an "acute care' facility. It would depend, but a decent sized medical centre may suffice.

I have six weeks leave over June/July and we were thinking of doing it somewhere north - where its warm. We thought of staying at a caravan park near the beach and I can spend the weekdays with the kids (2,4 and 6) at the beach whilst my wife does her placement.

So - any suggestions please on a town with a quiet caravan park near (on?) the beach, that's a bike ride from a hospital or large medical facility (so I still have the car during the day)? Thinking northern NSW or QLD. Could even be as far as Townsville. Kids not up to swimming in surf yet (so water temp not critical), but happy with a small shallow creek and quiet beach to play in.

WA coast (not Broome) could work as well. Kids are great in the car. Did 13000kms last winter to Kimberley and back no dramas. And no DVDs either

one that instantly springs to mind, but probably not what you are looking for,
but keep in mind if you dont get something further from home

Brighton caravan park, in Adelaide, its right on the beach , and no way you would think your in a city. 8klm to Flinders Medical centre .

we always stop there , good staging point.

If you are coming this far north, Scarborough van park is quite good. A little way from Redcliffe hospital, but there is a good bus service. Not sure whether Redcliffe is hiring, but it would be ideal, Bob[ ps, there is the Peninsular private hospital, just click on the holiday village, go to how to get there, see google map, Redcliffe hospital is the large pink mass 45 degrees right, on Anzac Av.]

Cheers for those replies thus far.

Adelaide might be a wee bit chilly for a month seaside in June. Looks like a nice park though.

I'll look into Scarborough, thanks bob.

We may need to take wherever we can get, so as many options as possible to be considered. Any other thoughts out there?

Hervey Bay will be hard to beaat regarding caravan parks near or in the waterffront. The hospital is not far away from them.

Cooktown Hospital might take your wife for her placement (I could check if you wanted )

I did see an older bloke paddle out from the fishing lease for a swim just the other day, might not exactly be a safe swimming location but a swimming he was going

Tie in the placement with a Cape trip...

If you felt like heading north to Sydney there is always the caravan park at North Narrabeen, right across the road from the beack and Narrabeen lakes and 10 mins from Mona Vale Hospital, 30 - 90 mins from 3 or 4 others. Mona vales still operates emergency dept, paeds etc, North Shore has emerg, ICU, high dependency units etc. Hope it helps.

That is a good caravan park, I used it several times for few weeks as a home base during my trips with the motor home.

The Hunter Valley has much more to offer, you could set up at any number of caravan parks, Stockton caravan park springs to mind, right on Stockton beach, 15 minutes from 2 of the major hospitals (John Hunter & Mater), Belmont hosp about 45 minutes away, Maitland hospital about the same, hope that's of some help, cheers Dennis
ps the Stockton center is just down the road, it's a ADHC facility, not sure whether that would meet the requirements?? she would have to check that out,,.
pps and a 5 minute walk for you to catch a ferry across Newcastle harbour, with Nobbies beach & Newcastle beach etc, no real traffic problems like Sydney/Melbourne,,.
