It was a professional recovery, very well done, staged or not ( probably part staged - that understandable).
The only slip up was them not checking the Disco's tyre pressure before tackling the ascent - they most likely did, but chose to make it look harder for better TV, I had a giggle that they gave the driver the advice on pressures that they " forgot" themselves.
I reckon it was a legit situation, but they just said hey, lets make a video of it. Whaddya reckon.
If it is not staged, then I hope the Disco was fully insured for driving anywhere on gazetted tracks
What did they do? Stick cameras inside the Disco for when they rolled it upright? I can just imagine being rescued by this film crew that just suddenly appears and start tacking cameras everywhere.
I wonder how the original mayday call was made. Did the kid have a handheld UHF?

They start filming as if they've only JUST arrived on scene, cameras in the car for when it's righted, film it being towed, etc.
Then they add a "we've just got this call over the radio" segment, and show them "rushing to the kids aid" with generic track footage.
Quite often I notice that scenes in their DVDs aren't filmed in sequence, so I'd say yes, the roll over was legit, yes, the recovery was legit, rest is just cut and stitch opportunism for a feel good community moment.
Just IMHO that is :)

Tend to agree with you muppet, the kid was at the least lucky anyone was in the area let alone the action man team!
Why have we become a society that has to rip into anyone that has a go. It was a good example for people to see how a recovery can be done. Where not all perfect and I bet someone could pick faults in any recovery we perform.
This Disco appeared in the mag about a year ago. There came across it while doing a trip up that way already on the track. Watch any video for TV and there always going to add drama and some poetic licence. Take it for what it is, an example of how you could perform a safe recovery.
