I know how you feel Dave, January long weekend 2004, we were camping at Kenilworth when a huge storm like last night hit, I was on my 3rd bottle of red when I stumbled back to my camper to batten down, wet as a shag I bent over to pick up the pole on the far right of the camper annexe after it got blown over, the lightning hit a tree 20' away, went through the ground, up my wet leg, through my arm holding the pole and back to ground through the pole,I landed on the campers kitchen ( I know,because I had to rebuild it) Next thing I remember I am in Intensive care in Nambour hospital, 2 days later I get let out and to this day I still have numbness in my left leg, tinnitus, sleeping problems and a sharp stabbing pain in my left wrist occasionally(except when I am on the reds;)) Just as a precaution Dave, get checked out. The guys at Nambour hospital were fantastic and said the only reason I am still here is because I had so much grog in me and was totally relaxed.

Have a mate who got thrown across the lounge when lightning struck the power lines at his house on the farm. He was standing in the door with a brass lanp trying to call the dogs in when it hit. He crushed the lamp with his hand at the time.
A few years back the railway bridge on the other side of the road from the office was hit by lightning. As it happens it was caught on camera by a kid from the local high school.

I really thought we were going to find a few bodies when we went over 200+ high school kids ended up in our building together with around 8 ambulances.
I think if it hadn't been bucketing down things would have been very different as there would have been kids all over the bridge. I don't think they realised how close some of them came to being fried.

The tunnel vision is caused by adrenelin drop your body does when stressed/confused.
been there .. different cause.. DO NOT want to be there again!
Also had tunnel hearing!
