Driving a Tdi helps. Also have not been on the motor bike much lately.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

    I'm impressed Ron.

In thirty one years I've lost two x two points, not bad I think considering I raced karts and cars for a number of years and wasn't known for hanging about on the road

Try being a line haul truck driver and being point free. Police forces look on truckies as professional victims.

I do around 70,000 kms a year and haven't lost a point since 1978 but I don't think I could have done it if I lived in Victoria. Every time I go there I get the impression it's a sneaky trap waiting to spring if you lapse even for a second. The policy doesn't seem to have had much effect on road safety in my view. The figures are comparable with the non sneaky states so why put up with it?

What annoys me is the last two traffic infringements I had were due to not seeing the change of speed sign.
I will quote a friend of mine which I like to follow "speeding fines are a voluntary tax, and I choose not to contribute"

The best tools I have are cruise control and a gps that knows the speed limit. My gps is consistently WRONG in Victoria....a government plot?

Just to help clear up the points thing...

They are DEMERIT points, so points gained for NON Meritorious acts.

Think of it another way, get 12 of these in 3 years, and you get a pushbike!

    Hope that helps

Thankfully driving a Td5, speed infractions are quite an achievement.
Speed infractions? A very easy achievement if the TD5 has paid a visit to Tombie

Must be over five years or more since my last fine. Was doing fifty two in a fifty zone. Problem there was at the time I had a miles per hour speedo. I believe that if every one had to drive a old landy the problems on the roads would be more than halved. I`m estatic if I travel at the speed limit.
