The joy of money saved fades into insignificance when the possibility of a $3000 remote area recovery of the vehicle is looming....

Correct, No branding no fitting is my rule. Even Timken etc have been hit by counterfeit products, if the sealed bearing box doesn't have a hologram on it it isn't a real Timken part .

If the part number on a Britpart component carries a suffix G then it's a genuine OEM part.

I'll keep that in mind. One thing I like about the LR Direct site is that it will list the supplier and what brand they're supplying, and sometimes Britpart will supply OEM or similar. Still makes me nervous, though.

I see someone, (Allmakes?), has introduced a "PR2", (I think), standard that's supposed to be the best quality available. It sounds like they were listening to their customers.
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.

All makes are not Britpart, All Makes are simply a company who supply Genuine Land Rover parts, plus OEM parts, plus there own stuff, ie Terrafirma, and have bought a number of other UK suppliers.

I was told they own Exmoor trim now, but I don't think so...

I've got some good Britpart pieces in the past, although I did end up with a couple of rubber bits for the Series that I reckon will perish quite quickly (they haven't seen summer yet) ... at least they are an easy swap out if they do.

here is LR Direct's prices for a Sals crown and pinion. The Brit Part is less than half the price of genuine. But as I read it then it's genuine in a plain box. It's hard to know which way to jump and not get caught. Any thoughts as I need one.
