The obligatory poser shot after new tyres![]()
Hi All,
As some may have noticed I finally have another Landy of my own, a 1983 Range Rover.
I now want to get out and enjoy it, however the problem with being 18 is that all the guys I know my age have normal cars, so I only actually have 1 mate that's local to me with a fourbie (V8 D1).
I don't fancy going out by myself for obvious reasons and want to do some decent tracks (Blue Mountains etc.), so looking for some kind of club or group to join up with.
The car has 32 MT's on it, and will have a winch shortly, and I plan to build it up slowly to be a good trail truck.
The sort of thing's I'd like to do is fairly heavy 4WDing (as heavy as possible with the car spec'd as is), and day or weekend trips would be the go at this stage in my life, camping and challenging tracks interest me!
So can anyone recommend a club or group to join up with? Doesn't have to be 1 make, but a few Landy's would be good company
Cheers
Will

As Slunnie posted, the LROCS is the biggest Land Rover oriented club in Sydney (and surrounds) we have a good group of younger members involved in trips and trucks of all types and styles. Our trips range from multi-week desert tours to freelander friendly forest trips to tuff trips.
The club also offers basic 4WDing training by people who know Rover products well, you won't be asked to lock your hubs in our club! (Unless you convert a Series to have freewheel hubs of course...)
Of course there are also forum trips, though its been a bit quiet around Sydney of late.
Sound's like I'll have to give LROCS a look in, also wondering if there are any smaller clubs worth a look-in as well.
Cheers
Will
RVR110 John is the president of another (non-Landy) club, he's southern Sydney based, so might be more local?
nice rr. I recently joined (after growing up with it since a kid) the
Discovery 4WD Club of Australia
with a mate of mine (both in disco coupes)
age range varies as do the difficulty of trips and the types of cars
a few landrovers and then the rest of makes.
