yeah it's strange but i've never been able to get into Metallica. Not sure why. ISIS is the only 'metal' band from the US that I really like.

I don't mind a few Metallica songs, the rest just sound the same. Master of Puppets was the only album that ever really enticed me.
Add to that I despise Lars Ulrich with a passion
Korpiklaani is the best metal band ever, all their songs are about alcohol :p
Exile On Main Street,
But for me, Power, Corruption & Lies and Surfer Rosa were two albums that completely changed the direction of my listening when they came out. So did Kind Of Blue now i think of it.
Hotel California
Frampton Comes Alive
Tubular Bells
Back in Black
and most Deep Purple songs
Should also add any Steely Dan album from "Can't buy a thrill" to "Gaucho" is a winner for me.
If we're talking Opeth I'd cast my vote for Blackwater Park without question.
Absolute masterpiece.
Led Zeppelin 4 is an album of great tracks, however Dark Side of the Moon is a great album and was the absolute obvious answer to the question. The Wall is as good but was not ground-breaking is the same way.
Earth Wind And Fire - "That's The Way Of The World"
I think Meatloaf's "Bat Out Of Hell" should be up there amongst "Dark Side Of The Moon" but that's just my thoughts :)
Had the pleasure of meeting Nick Mason and sharing his BBQ a few years ago, what a thoroughly nice chap. His daughter was quite nice too
