And if coming towards you they swerve a roo they end up going up your nose!
This can go around in circles as most drivers can't avoid a collision in a CBD at 30kmh

Most of the people I used to know who claimed they were quite safe at speeds a bit less than that were quite convinced that if they went twice as fast it only took twice as far to pull up. Some even thought they could stop in roughly the same distance.
That didn't fill me with confidence that they were as safe as they claimed.
I hope you aren't one of those.![]()

Have none of you guys ever driven on an autobahn?
MANY MANY people drive at 250Kmh plus, and buses are limited to 80Kmh.
Does there seem to be horrific rear enders every day? NO.
Many trucks go at 80Kmh up hills also and I gave the example of one pulling out on me.
I have ridden on autobahns at 230Kmh which was as fast as a BMW would go then, and there was much more traffic on them than on the Hume at presumably a late hour or any time really. My friend was doing up to 250 on a Suzuki 1000 with a pillion on.
Unless of course the cop is chasing closely, ALL reasonable people slow down when they see traffic ahead, wait for the opportunity and then pass, then back up to speed. Similarly they will slow over a blind crest. You can see a long way on the Hume and ther eis usually PLENTY of time to brake.
Your nose doesn't bleed if you go faster than 110Kmh and you don't die of asphixiation. But your nose does get a bit sore unless you have a full fairing as your helmet tends to squash against it at 200 plus.

And in reply to "all traffic on autobahns is fast" this is not so. Many people travel at 120-130 at most and buses are limited to 80 AFAIR.

And don't autobahns have a fast lane that slow vehicles/drivers are expressly forbidden to use? The Hume is a two lane road in places. Nowhere to overtake except the right hand lane.
Thanks - I did work out the tenuous frayed-thread-like connection between the two. I was just wondering if any of the geniuses who came up with it could manage to go a bit further in explaining their offensive attempt at a comparison.
Courtesy of Wikipedia, of course:Safety[edit]According to the "Annual Road Safety Report 2011", produced by the International Transport Forum, the number of overall road fatalities had decreased by almost 70% between 1990 and 2010. While autobahns were not specifically mentioned in the report, motorway data is presented, with the fatality total between 1990 and 2010 decreasing from 1470 to 430 deaths. Excessive speed was cited as "a factor in more than 39% of fatal accidents and about 26% of serious injury accidents in 2010" and the relaunch of a motorway-based safety campaign, entitled "Runter vom Gas!" ("Foot off the gas!"), is also mentioned in the report.[15]
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.
