    Another idiot on the road

I don't know what this driver was thinking they were slowing down for the lights then they changed their mind?

How long will he last? Unfortunately, probably longer than an innocent person he cleans up.

Idiots are every where on the roads and it's not a recent thing. Some years ago I was bus driving and had stopped in the right turn lane on a major hwy, car next to me was slowing down to stop as the lights were amber as was the car in the lane to the left of her, then BANG a bloke hits her hard up the backside pushing her into the intersection then the driver jumps out and abuses her for stopping.
Couldn't he see that all around him were doing the same thing? Plenty of witnesses on her side so there wasn't a problem there.
Apparently the idiot said he was late for work!

Wife calls husband on mobile phone "Dear, be careful, I just heard on the news about a driver travelling the wrong way on the freeway that you use to get home."
Husband replies "It's not just one, there are hundreds."

Probably what they had for beakfast 75 years ago...

On a more serious note, if the driver in the M2 could get booked using the freeway surveilence footage as evidence, why can't our red light runner in the first post get booked off the back of the dashcam footage?

Who says they can't? If the police receive a complaint with evidence, they can act.

Last I heard the worst you could get for that red light infraction with evidence provided by non-police / legislatively authorised representative was a warning.

On the one hand the footage could be doctored. A real red light runner but with the number plate doctored. Not too difficult when you know how...

On the other hand, I would have absolutely no reservations in handing over every incident of idiots like that if it meant they would get fined / points.

The sad thing is when these idiots kill some one, they are charged and may get 5-6 years gaol. The person whose like was cut short may have lived up to another 50 years, but the law looks at life loss very poorly and lenient.
It should be an eye for an eye, if they kill an innocent person and they are say 25 years old, then lock them up for 50 rears, the life span that was taken away. Time to get tough with idiots, they never learn otherwise.
Workers comp that's in consideration on an injured workers age and how long they would have remained in the workforce if they didn't have an injury. Do the same for fatalities caused by idiots.
