Cut him a bit of slack, - 60 tests, 255 wickets @ 29.96, 1370 RUNS @ 22.09. v Australia, 18 tests, 62 wickets @ 39.98, 499 runs @ 23.76. Has battled elbow injuries in his bowling arm for years, & says his body can not cope with 5 day test matches any more. Admittedly, throwing the towel in before the end of the series is pretty ordinary, especially when it has been reported he only did after being told he would not be selected for the remaining two tests. Arguably, a much better look for English cricket would have been to accept his fate, sit in the background , & stay to support his team. Not a good look for English cricket. Says volumes of the attitude of English players. Or should I say, African & New Zealand, plus a few Poms thrown in. His replacement comes from Northern Ireland, I believe. Good. Might add a bit of backbone to the side. Bob

I know , mate, but I remember when our mob were a bit ordinary, I feel his attitude is a lot of the problem in that team, he said he couldn't play 5 day games, but was happy to play T20 for big money in India. We are slowly coming the other way. If England don't get their act together, where does that leave international cricket. The Indian influence, with the T 20 big money games, and the betting/ match fixing, pose as big a challenge to Test cricket as Packers Cricket. I hope the game of cricket is strong enough to work thru this. My opinion of Swan? Coward. Bob

If Broad had walked in the first place I wonder what the outcome of all this
might have been.

I hope the Poms get their act together this week as I love Ashes test cricket. Be a shame if the series ends on such a negative outcome.
I still look forward to them returning in the next few years.

I also dont like this sledging and venom crap. Having a friendly jibe and crack at each other is fine and try to block his knock off but at the end of the day be thankful that there is an opposing team because where would we be without them ?
