    Ashes 2013!

I know it doesn't feel much like cricket weather (especially in Melbourne!), but I am getting pretty excited about the upcoming 10 test matches
What makes it even more exciting is you Aussies seem to think a change of coach will make all your batsmen play better
Seriously though I can't wait, only 3 hours to go as I write the coverage looks good too, with fox/gem and abc grandstand on DAB+.
My poor boss, I'll be a zombie for a while!

I hope we put up a bit of a show & I'll go out on a limb here, I'm feeling a little optimistic.

    C'mon Aussie, c'mon.

I'm an ex Pom and now a fully fledged Aussie.

I can't live here and take all the good things from this country and then barrack for the Poms.

    Don't know how anyone can......

I don't think we're going to see the same class of close competition that we saw in 2005, but I don't think it's going to be a 5-0 whitewash either.

I just hope it's a good clean series, with no weather interruptions to start the 'what if' crowd off.

And someone needs to keep Warner on a lead too.

It's quite simple, it's not all a one way street. Regardless of what variety of passport I hold, I'll always be a "bloody Pom" in the eyes of many of the locals when it comes to England v Aussie sports. So I've thought that if I'm going to get barracked anyway, I might just as well support the UK teams overtly.

I reckon that policy might well get ditched. I'd like to see the best available team each time, the ones at the top of their game, not the ones that aren't being rested.

Aaah Cricket. A new term I just heard. A "Bowlologist". Spellcheck doesn't like it.

He's only been in the job a couple of weeks, and there is a difference already. And a far better team spirit. Anyone who followed " Boof " & Qld. will know what may be ahead. Bob

ASHTON Agar will make a shock Test debut in Australia's Ashes opener at Trent Bridge.

Agar’s selection will stun the cricketing world given his modest first class record of 31 wickets at 29.38 from just ten matches for Western Australia.
Agar was not originally named in Australia’s Ashes touring party but was added as a development player. The left-arm finger spinner played in Australia’s tour match against Worcester, claiming figures of 2-79 and 1-86.
The selection of Agar could prove important against England’s ace Kevin Pietersen, who has been exposed by left-arm spin in the past.
Agar will play in place of Australia’s more seasoned spinner Nathan Lyon.
In other team news, Steve Smith has beaten Dave Warner for Australia’s No. 6 batting post
Smith’s innings of 68* and 43 in the tour game against Worcester have won over the selectors, who were mulling over whether to reinstate Warner directly after his suspension.
Smith will join a batting order that includes Shane Watson and Chris Rogers as openers.
Michael Clarke will elevate himself to No. 4 in the order with Phil Hughes edging Usman Khawaja for the No. 5 position.
Ed Cowan has been selected at No. 3 position given the nature of the Trent Bridge pitch and the fact he has been playing with Nottinghamshire for most of the county season.
Cowan has scored 619 first class runs at 41.26 in England this season.
Peter Siddle, James Pattinson, Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon will lead the bowling attack.
Australia’s XI: Shane Watson, Chris Rogers, Ed Cowan, Michael Clarke ©, Phil Hughes, Steve Smith, Brad Haddin, Peter Siddle, James Pattinson, Mitchell Starc, Ashton Agar
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
