My J.D. Ride on does not have an hour meter but we have owned it for over 10 years.

Anyone serviced the transmission on theirs. Its supposed to be sealed for life but that worries me. There has to be metal contamination in there.

9 years later and my John Deere X340 has gone from 85 to 299.9hrs on it.

In it's life it has had:
John Deere servicebox kits every 50hrs
    Replacement battery at about 20hrs
    Replacement battery at about 298hrs
Deck belt at about 40hrs (I stopped doing full stick engagements)

It has been a beauty. Could do with a diff lock though.

(This is not counting the far ridge which will be mown tomorrow but it's only a few hours work). Time wise average speed calcs 6kph (pretty steep country) so with the hour meter on 370 hrs I done 2220ks all up. That's a good trip hey? Plenty of quality time to contemplate my navel!
And NO, I don't slash it anymore as the mower has improved the grass quality & quantity unbelievably.
Have you worked out the fuel consumption? Don't laugh I knew a guy who did this for his push mower, including servicing costs for oil, spark plugs, etc!
