Not so much the skill as the patience. Get a Rochester repair manual. The first time you strip, clean, and rebuild one will take you all day following the book. Read and understand each section of the book before proceeding further. It gets better with each succeeding one. Should be able to do one in 1 1/2 hours with experience. Like SU's, once set up they rarely need to be touched again. Problem with SU's is everyone is an expert and wants to fiddle. Once set, surround them with a ball of barbed wire to keep the idiots away.
