Hi all, can anyone tell me the best place to buy all my performance parts for my 5lt rangerover classic engine I'm building pls.
I'm hoping to get hold of someone in Australia, all my searching so far leads to the uk.
Some of the things I need are:
Edlebrock 500 cfm carb and maching dual plane manifold.
Performance cam kit.
Vernier pulley.

I bought my manifold from Performance Warehouse. They had it in stock. They should have the carbies in stock as well but make sure you get one with the spring loaded needle and seats. Otherwise get an adaptor and fit a quadrajet.
Actually, just looked their web site and they do not list the edelbrock gear anymore. Might be worth calling them though.

Amtravic, did you get the dual plane manifold? How was it?
As for the carb, I've not read about the spring loaded needles anywhere could you shed some more light for me? The carb I read was supposed to be the best all round was the edlebrock 500 cfm manual choke 1404? I think (supposed to be the new one)
Buggered if I can find that info again! Well annoying can't remember where I saw it I've been to literally 100's of pages.lol as for the quadrajet I've never heard of it, is it any good ( performance/economy)

Rochester Quadrajet. Excellent all round carby. Used on Holden & Chev V8's. Small primary's / large secondaries. Tuned right there a great carby.

If you dont get the spring loaded needles and seats with the edelbrock cab it will flood on inclines.
The quadrajet as stated has very small primaries and will run very well. It also has a very small float bowl and it will give no problems and any angle you want to drive on.
I believe it was a dual plane manifold that I had. I actually removed the fuel injection from my motor and fitted the carby. Never had another issue with it not running properly again. It was more powerful and had better economy than the injected motor as well. The only thing with using a quadrajet is you need a spreadbore to square bore adaptor which raises the height a little so it is more difficult to find an air filter that will fit. From memory I used one from a Holden.
You should be able to buy a spreadbore manifold made by Edelbrock. Check their web site. Offenhauser used to make several types including out and out competition models using 2 x 4 barrel or 3 x 2 barrel. Late model Quadrajets had a petroleum resistant plastic packer in the float bowl. Rochester recommended this as a mandatory modification in earlier models used in off-road racing.. Set it up with an electric fuel pump, a fuel pressure regulator, and a return to tank small bore fuel line before the regulator and carb inlet. Quadrajets as previously stated have a small float bowl which is centrally located and with the packing piece installed will run satisfactorily with the vehicle almost standing on its tail. Later versions have a rating of 850 cfm via huge secondary throats. One from a 253 Holden usually starts up and runs well with out rejetting. Usually needing just a fiddle with the idle mixture screws and idle speed. You may need to tune the rpm at which you wish the vacuum secondaries to open. Easy job, you bend the operating rod to change its length. Quadrajets were just about the most sophisticated carb. ever made. Far superior to similar Holleys which are primitive fuel dumpers in comparison.
