This has to be a first!

Had a knee replacement in February and it still gives me trouble. Saw the surgeon Tuesday and it look like worst case scenario will be another knee fitted. Reason is that the patella is sitting off the side of the knee. Surgeon not sure if he can fix this quickly with minimal surgery or replace the joint again. Bummer. GOOD NEWS!!!! IT IS BEING DONE UNDER WARRANTY!! NO COST. Thank goodness. Hope the anesthetist comes to the party too. Jim

having worked in surgery for a large portion of my working life, I can tell you its actually not an uncommon thing for knee replacements to go wrong and need fixing.

Many years ago after a particularly nasty MVA I was advised NOT to have a spinal fusion of the Thoracic section, I copped some very severe anterior wedge fractures. I am glad I listened to the experts! Even though I am in constant pain to varying degrees some 20 years down the track, it could be far, far worse.

    Hang in there

Does this mean your leg will then hinge in 2 places instead of just one?

Good and bad news there Jim, take it steady and get yourself right.

I hope all goes well and you'll soon be running around chasing balls and bones girls.

The lab, Reni, we were raising for Guide Dogs had luxated patellas in both rear legs. Guide Dogs had to borrow the tools from Bondi Vet to do the first lot of surgery on her. So we bought the instruments for Guide Dogs so they could do her other leg without the hassle of borrowing tools.
