    Sort this one out

I live in a no through road complex. For many years the speed in this street was 70k/h. A short while ago the sign at the start of the street where it leaves the main rd was changed to 50k/h. However if I leave my driveway and proceed towards the main rd I pass a sign reading 70k/h. Does this mean I have to drive home at 50, but I can leave at 70?

Pretty much. A speed limit can be different depending on which direction you are travelling in. Roadworks sometimes have one sided speed limits. I'm sure the other 50 sign will be up soonish.

System designed for those days when you are 'running late' on the way somewhere & 'too scared to front up' on the way home.

If you legally leave your place at 70, then turn around before the 50 sign that is pointing the other direction, the you should be able to argue that the last posted limit you passed was 70 - which makes it a bit grey.

There was a road I used every day that was 80 one way and 100 the other for about 6 months until some speeding fines were contested. The fines were thrown out and the road was changed to 80 in both directions, so maybe there is a precedent to argue any fines....

But don't call me if you get caught - I'm not a Solicitors arsehole...
