    TV nostalgia

G,day. I used to thourghly enjoy "The summer science school " with Professor Harry Messel. I thought that was fascinating and would look forward to it.
Also remember the first episode of "Gunsmoke ". John ( DICKHEAD ) Wayne came on and introduced it. He said olmate was an olmate and hoped we liked the show. I did. Used to enjoy Miss Kitty, Matt, Doc and Chester.
    The good oldays.

    Naah, sorry Baz.
I dont watch any yank shootemupbangbangcrap and havent for many years.
When the promo's come on I mute the sound and shudder to think that there are actually Aussie's that are prepared to watch this moronic junk.
Saw on the news that some newly released violent video game is about to make a billion bucks. THAT IS SICK.
Mcqueen started the rot with that "Bullit " movie.
I prefer the old time shows. Love the early sci fi and B grade b/w westerns.
I can get and do, all of this stuff from the internet, and I have quite a video library.
Mind you I dont watch much Aussie stuff either although I have quite a collection of Aussie favourite movies. Hated dundee and red dog but in that I loved the cat fight, I thought that blue cat was a surviver.

    Cheers.

PS: Dr Who is an historical documentary.

Gotta disagree with ya on "Bullit", one of my favourites, along with "Le Mans",one of the best motor racing films ever made. But then again, I'm a massive McQueen fan...I'm pretty keen on James Dean too!
I'm not that keen on "Dundee" either. Have you seen the Ch 7 series, now on DVD, on Ned Kelly, "The Last Outlaw" starring John Jarratt...best Kelly movie I've seen.
    Cheers, Pickles.

That is what's different about Longmire, it's made in the old Gunsmoke style of TV western, but hey your choice.

Nuh, had enough of old Ned, that pommy rocker did it for me and I only saw the shorts.

I liked James Dean at the time but after all these years I realised just how wooden he was as an actor. Every part he played was exactly the same character, just name and lines different. I have Giant in my dvd collection but nothing to do with Dean.

Dont get me wrong I liked Steve McQeen. I have some of his movies on dvd. I thought The Sand Pebbles was his best. Cheesed off with that great escape crap tho, in reality the escape had nothing to do with stupid yanks.
In that one he did with Ally McGraw I was rapped, by golly she was an allover good looking woman.

With my reference to Bullit,it was the beginning of the modern moronic yank trend. They have to outdo each other with car chases and big bangs and special effects, I cant understand why sane people watch it. Are their lives so shallow and difficult that they need this mindless escapism ?
When ever you see a promo for a yank movie there is always a little actor snucking around with a gun pretending to be a ten foot tall all american heero. Its bull****, it gives me the ****s. I enjoy watching it on the nightly news tho, a nation of gun happy sick people culling the herd.
The usa has become a real life violent video game where everyone looses.

    Cheers.
