Likewise I have had an EU2 Honda for over 5 yrs now and can't fault it. Very quiet especially on eco mode.

If I remember right the early EU20i's did not have the ability to run two in line, so if anyone is considering this might be a good idea to check before buying secondhand. We also owned a 3kva Yamaha genie for several years it was so silent you couldn't hear it running when standing next to it.
It would power the house if you didn't turn everything on and was extremely frugal, but it was huge in size compared to the little 2kva Honda.
On the flip side the little EU20i when under load running a caravan air conditioner was extremely loud and drank fuel at a huge rate, that bad that I gave up on a genie for caravaning and went down, as I said earlier, the solar path. I know you cant power an air conditioner with solar on a van but if you get a couple of decent fans then only in the worst heat do you really need a air conditioner.
Given the bs of what has happened in SA recently I can see why many are once again looking at buying a good genie.
I bought a Honda 6.8KVA generator about 12 - 14 years ago and has to be one of the best investments I've made.
We have had quite a few long blackouts, including one that lasted just under 3 days and the generator proved a god send.
During long blackouts, because the gen motor is quite loud, I run the generator during daylight hours up till about 9PM and then use a couple of inverters to run basics during the night.
I have never powered any of the air conditioners off it but it keeps all our fridges cold and most of our other essentials working.
Plus I use a 60 amp battery charger to recharge my bank of batteries during the day and then use them run the inverters overnight, mostly for lighting, cooking and entertainment systems. But the fridges are off once the generator is off.
During the last blackout, I had one of the small Hondas here so I lent it to a neighbour and that kept them going as well.
The only thing I do not have on the large gen is the protection of the RVD that was installed in the smaller Honda ( like in the pictures of the Subaru R1700i ).
As the large gen was in a shed separate from the house, the long extension leads out in the wet were a bit of a worry!
Honda have an Australia wide dealer network of power equipment specialists ... 450+ dealers ... Yamaha only have motorcycle or outboard dealers ... many a tale of woe have I heard from Yamaha genie owners who end up at a M/C or O/B dealership in an attempt to get a gen' repair or parts ... The Yammies seem to be good quality, but the after sales support network sucks.
Biased Honda Dealer of 25yrs+ ;)

Is this Yamaha or Land Rover you're talking about here ?:p
Deano :)
The exception to this is Hempfield Small Motors in Perth who sell and service both Honda and Yamaha gensets. As well as a range of diesel gensets.
I have bought a few engines from them for work and can thoroughly recommend them.

The EU20i can be linked.. so no issues there...
We purchased it as SA went dark and it's a bloody good thing!!!
