Grey Nomads - things I've learnt in the last few days.

And they were good enough to let others pass

During our 2 years touring in the motorhome we only stopped 2 times in a caravan park and both for our security. Once on the Narraben Lake caravan park and the other just north of Taree.
We have a fossicker license and with it we have free camoing in some of the most beautiful spots in Oz.
Think the money that we saved in accommodation or rent during that 2 years and you will see that it pay for the food.
If any one of you have the desire to go and explore do not leave it till you are two old or health does not help. Plan now, live simple if needed and enjoy ;)
PS: we also saved thousands by building our own motorhome.

What I love most about living here in summer, is not the 45-50 degree heat, not the storms, not perving on the scantily clad females getting around, but for at least 4 months of the year, sanity returns to the roads as the travellers **** off down south.

They complain that travelling at the posted limit is less economical.
If you cant afford the fuel bill, why on earth are you driving a big $$ 4wd with a taj mahal on wheels dragging along behind you? A falcodore and pop top camper works just as well, at a fraction of the cost.

They complain that they dont feel comfortable driving at the posted limit.
If you dont feel comfortable driving at the posted speed limit, WHY? Is your chosen car/caravan combination unsuitable, poorly loaded, in poor condition, or are you simply incompetent to drive your rig without posing a danger to all other road users? If any of those factors is the case, WHY are you on the road like that to start with?

They complain that travelling at the posted speed limit restricts their ability to see the countryside.

Honestly, if I live long enough to retire, I can only hope I can afford to buy a gutless 4wd to tow a Taj Mahal on wheels, then I'll clear off down to Victoria and South Australia and live out my days crawling around the place at 30km/h..... and on the back of the van? "Queenslanders Revenge"

Feeling like getting something off your chest Sprint? I could be wrong, but I get the impression you're not a fan of the nomads...? Only a slight hint there I think...:D

Hey Gav, I think this thread has become a slanging match between the BANANA benders & the Vics. If the Grey Nomads did not go to the Norther State it would possibly go broke. Remember it does not matter where people come from they need fuel & food.
