Thread: If only QLD had daylight saving

Kelvin, you are welcome to ask....and this topic comes up every so often as a new wave of Mexicans come over the border and want to change their 'lifestyle" but want it still to be like the one they left behind. I don't agree with DLS, but if by persistence, it goes AGAIN to to a public referendum and is voted in I will accept the umpires decision. Currently the umpires decision is "no" but as us bastards get older and die, you will get your chance to become the sensible majority and experience the glory of daylight saving.

I am not a fan of it, especially in the peak of summer.
You can't do much here on a 40-45 degree day until the the sun has gone down.
The best daylight saving we ever had was when the 2000 Sydney Olympics wee on and it started in late August or early September. The time that could be utilised after work with good weather was great. I am a shift worker so it doesn't have a large impact on me except when i am on dayshift.

If the clocks can't be synchronized , why then cant those of us who want , the option to start and finish an hour earlier? Then we are still on the same "time" as our eastern side brethren , but also get the luxury of seeing the sun go down from the back deck as opposed to the afternoon traffic.

That's pretty much what I do most days. The rest of the office works 8 to 5. I start at 6 and knock off around 3 when in Perth. Miss all the traffic - and I actually get more work done in that first two hours as well.

You need to speak with your boss about that.
Its interesting, because most managers are quite receptive to different idea's being put forward by employees with stuff like this.
It could be that he needs to do stuff like start up compressors/general equipment etc that he might like someone else to do as opposed to "him" getting up early to do it.

Always worth a try you know.
