Yup, chicken mesh laid on the grass.. Pin it down using irrigation pipe pegs, after you have cut the grass really low. Once the mesh is down, roll it a few times. Water the lawn and fertilise it to get it to grow quickly and it hides the mesh, is mowable, and no more dog holes!! Sister had the same issue in the UK. It worked a treat!

I remember my old Great Pyrenean Mountain dog, she used to dig holes big enough to put a wheelbarrow inside.
The problem is that some dogs have it on the genes, mountain dogs dig in the snow to find a warm place to rest or dirt looking for the cold dirt under.
The only solution is to build for them a sand pit. They will love it

Not a lot you can do apart from taking them for lots of walks and wear them out. Normally do it because they are bored

I have two huskies and they love to dig holes

But they are a bread that likes to dig a hole and lie in it and sleep. Mainly because it is there way of keeping cool.

Put some low lying electrified wires in the locations that he commonly digs, 12 volts should do the trick and if he/she toughens up 24 would be enough, just avoid them yourself or the jokes on you.

I do like the sound of integrating mesh into the ground, although I would got for a aluminium fence as the steel/iron/tin could pose a hazard after a while.

You could name him/her Excavator and tell everyone that is the Greek god of earthmoving. What sort of dog is it. 52 kgs at 8 months sounds like a handfull. I have a Rottweiler who has a bit of a dig occasionally. He needs plenty of exercise and a few toys to play with to keep him occupied.

This is going to sound a bit rough but the only thing that stopped my mastiff from digging was putting her own dog crap in each hole, she wasnt happy but it worked
