    Good Builder or Civil Engineer

    Hi all,
Could anyone recommend a knowledgeable builder or civil engineer who I could ask to come around to my house and give me some advice re deck options?

I have contacted a couple who insist that I need a deck quote or charge what I believe an extortionate amount for a 'consultation and report'.

I am not trying to belittle them but I am simply after some 'advice' regarding what's possible with my site and house design. I am willing to pay for their time but I do not need a quote or report.

BTW, I am not going build the thing without council approval or without approved plans, I just want to know what's possible!

    Cheers
    Ralph

Yes where you live would help - I am an architect & would have a chat over a coffee if I'm near. And I know a good builder too.

If you want to send me some photos via email I can give you some ideas. No uni degrees here, but a few decks under my belt

How large do you want the deck to be and what sort of construction (timber or concrete)? Do you want a roof on it? Do you have a pic showing the slope of the land past the paved area?

Oh dear! That's why I am after someone.

    Sorry for the scant info.

I really want to 'extend' the sunroom floor out a further 3000 ish along the wall in the pic. I'll retain the same width as well. Does that make sense? Pretty much the deck would be the dimensions and positions in the pic. Materiels not important but I do like steel. Yes I'd like the option of a roof if possible.
    Cheers

Whatever you end up with, make sure you include the roof option. It makes a deck so much more useful - hot or wet days it'll still be quite pleasant to be out there.
I'm not a builder or civil engineer but the following pictures may give you some ideas to discuss or think about.
