The RANGE STORMER (the new Landrover)

So, Landrover are bringing out a new 'Rangie' 8)

Info on it below, all taken from the WEB....

    this acticle is from:

    <span style="color:blue">>> 10/12/03 - Land Rover's Sporty 4x4; Jeep's Top-Shelf SUV Facelifted

Warwickshire, Great Britain: Land Rover has announced a new concept vehicle will be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on 5 January 2004.

The Range Stormer, a name which is already grating with many Land Rover traditionalists, is a high-performance 4x4 and will make its world debut at Detroit, and follows the reveal of a design rendering at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year.

Commenting on the new concept, Land Rover's managing director Matthew Taylor, said: "Range Stormer is a modern, striking, high-technology vehicle.

"It is very much conceived to be an on-road, high performance machine, as well as class-leading off-road like all Land Rovers. Breadth of ability is one of its many strengths."

While almost anyone with a forced induction six or V8 can make a 'sporty' SUV that goes well on the blacktop, Land Rover's claim that the Range Stormer will be able to handle the rough stuff is intriguing, and the ground clearance seen in the above photo goes a long way to backing up this claim.

Land Rover design director, Geoff Upex added: "It is possible to apply Land Rover design language to a vehicle of totally different proportions and still make it very obviously a Land Rover.

"This is what we've done here, and the result is a Land Rover like nothing that has been seen before."</span>

What do we think of this?

No doubt, if it is being released in 2004 in the Uk, we wont see it here in OZ until 2006 i'm sure

    Looks interesting

Interesting, there has been rumors floating about for some time, but this is the first "real" news that I have heard.

I suspect that as the prototype is being shown next year, that it won't be on the shelf until 2005, however i'd be surprised if we didn't get it later that year.

The dealers have been talking about a "baby" rangie for a while. Wonder if this is it???

From what I was led to believe it will be as Prado is to Landcruiser what this vehicle will be to Range Rover.....

I don't know what the baby rangie is going to be called (like you said, kinda like a prado), but I have found this pic that is supposed to be of it on the landrover chronicle webpage.

From what I have read, the stormer is going to be a high performance vehicle along the performance of the porche Cayene (or like it).

You know, it is kind of wierd talking about a landrover wich is designed to be sporty

dont know about sporty, but mine have always given me a "sporting" chance of getting home without burning my fingers, bruising my knuckles, or getting the knees of my jeans muddy .....

We are meant to be getting specs & photos around the 2nd Jan. Is going to be powered by the 4.2 Jag V8 so we've been told. Not sure if they will bring out a diesel version. Will have to wait and see. Performance specs are meant to be very impressive...........
Did you guys see the 2005 Discovery pics??

No, I agree, the first time that I saw it I cringed

However it has kinda grown on me (kinda  ). That split tailgate is bizzare! I thought that it had become another ford explorer, but apparently that isn't the case.

What yould you change in what you can see there?

For me the tailgate is an instant change, and probably less bumper bar.
