I hope they do the same in my neck of the woods
After a couple of trips in the area, I can say I was not in a hurry to re visit as - sorry to say- the bogan element had taken over and I mean taken over to the point of being arrogant.
I really hope there is more of this in future. It has taken a bit too long to act, but still never too late.

Not so happy trails
Tuesday, 29 October 2013 04:31
Off road vehicle users are being reminded that they are not off the radar when it comes to road safety and compliance issues.
Operation Trailblazer was run by members of the State Highway Patrol last weekend and focused on trails and recreational areas in Baw Baw Shire State Forests.
The Special Solo Unit checked in excess of 326 trail bikes and 4WD’s over the four day operation.
Over 156 offences were detected including 31 unregistered vehicles, 27 unlicensed drivers, two suspended drivers and 56 defective or unroadworthy vehicles.
Acting Inspector Dan Hilton of State Highway Patrol was flabbergasted by the results.
"Obligations associated with driving vehicles and riding motorcycles do not end where the trees, gravel and mud begin” he said.
“These are highly popular areas of the State where people travel to relax and enjoy themselves in safety with family and friends.
“Unfortunately the incidence of road trauma in these areas is significantly high and ultimately has a considerable impact on both the community and the families of victims."
Operation Trailblazer was run as part of Operation Motosafe.

Should be more of it!
How many times have you heard people suggest their bikes, quads and buggies don't need to be registered in the forests and off the made roads?
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
As you say, different from State to State. In Vic you can have a 2 inch suspension lift, and 2 inches extra on either the tyres OR a body lift, for a total of 4 inches (100mm) above standard without engineering.
But I agree there should be more enforcement in the Bush to reduce the Bogan element...

If they were targetting mostly dirt bikes, they can be defected for broken or missing blinkers but a lot of dirt bikes you see on trailers going to these places have no rego plates so its an easy score for police to watch the access roads.
I think the differences in the requirements for rego is between public/crown land and private land rather than differences between states. You don't need to be registered on private or leasehold land.

Are you, or aren't you from SA? you say you are, but i wouldn't know personally so you're the only one who knows if you are wrong or not...The blitz was in Vic, so I was just pointing out the rules here. (Give or take 0.8mm)
Now your just being pedantic... I love it..![]()
